Ten Inspirational Podcasts

Of all of America's contributions to world culture, the Self Help industry is perhaps the most controversial. With its roots in nineteenth and early twentieth century movements like New Thought, Self Help manuals often focus on quasi-religious themes such as positive thinking, the law of attraction, and creative visualisation, with the aim of increasing people's self confidence and improving their material well-being.

Despite the unusual and sometimes controversial theories associated with it, American Self Help culture is far from a peripheral, niche interest: it is now very much part of the mainstream on both sides of the Atlantic. Some of the most famous products of Self Help culture have become household names, such as Dale Carnegie's 1936 best seller How to Win Friends and Influence People, the 2006 film The Secret, and Alcoholics Anonymous' Twelve Step Programme for addiction recovery.

In recent times, the Self Help industry has boomed thanks to its effective use of a new and dynamic medium - the Podcast.

Join us now as we look now at ten podcasts of the Self Help genre which have been making waves of late.
